Cosmetic surgery provides long-term solutions for people experiencing unwanted changes to their body from accidents, illnesses, or injuries. We are also able to adjust existing scarring from previous surgeries to enhance your quality of life. Here are six different types of medical conditions that we treat:
1. Facial Scarring
If you have facial scarring, cosmetic surgery may offer relief by altering existing scars. Scars around your eyes can cause vision loss and impede your eyelids’ mobility. A Blepharoplasty is a reconstructive procedure where excess scar tissue is removed or altered to provide increased eyelid functionality.
This outpatient procedure uses local anesthesia and, depending on the scarring, may take 45 minutes to a few hours to complete. To minimize visual scarring, incisions are set in inconspicuous places, like the creases of your eyelids. After your procedure is over, you will be able to recover from the comfort of your own home.
2. Migraines
A migraine is a recurring headache with moderate to severe throbbing pain on one side of the head. Symptoms may include sensitivity to light, fatigue, and nausea. The treatment that we offer for migraines is known as Botox. Botox is a medicine that is typically used to treat muscular conditions or symptoms of aging like wrinkles.
These injections work by relaxing the muscles in your head, face, and neck. After receiving your injections, we recommend that you avoid strenuous activities like exercise for at least 24 hours. This allows the medicine to settle into your muscles and nerves, providing migraine and muscle spasm relief. We also provide scheduled booster Botox appointments every few months.
3. Difficulty Breathing
Some symptoms of breathing issues can be whistling sounds or frequent nose bleeds. You may also feel pressure in your nasal passages. Rhinoplasty is a treatment option for those experiencing these types of issues by altering existing cartilage. This can increase your nose’s functionality by allowing you to breathe more easily through your nostrils.
Rhinoplasties are an outpatient procedure and are performed with either local or general anesthesia. If you undergo general anesthesia, you will need someone to drive you to your appointment and back home.
4. Breast Cancer
A mastectomy is a breast removal surgery that is usually performed to remove cancerous cells from the body. This results in a loss of tissue in either one or both breasts. Our experienced surgeons offer reconstructive procedures to restore your breasts’ natural appearance or to provide you with a new look. Since this treatment requires general anesthesia, be sure to arrange transportation to and from the appointments.
Recovery rates may vary depending on your specific condition, as some patients will need a skin graft to create the mound of their new breast. Other areas from which our surgeons take skin grafts are the flank, stomach, and thighs. Breast implants are silicone shells filled with saline, otherwise known as salt water, and come in different cup sizes. You may also choose to undergo a breast lift at the same time. A breast lift reduces the appearance of aging by allowing your breasts to sit higher on your chest.
5. Loose Skin
Cutis Laxa is a genetic medical condition that may limit the elasticity of your skin. It creates loose areas of skin in places like your neck, arms, and abdomen. Weight loss from diet and exercise, or recovering from giving birth, could also result in loose skin. We offer two different types of procedures to address this: a body lift or an abdominoplasty.
Depending on your needs, a body lift addresses loose skin along the arms, legs, neck, and torso. This procedure could take one appointment to complete or be spread out over multiple appointments. An abdominoplasty focuses primarily on the stomach area, and incisions are concealed below your bikini line. We recommend that you wear compression garments after either procedure to increase circulation for the healing process.
6. Excess Fat
Liposuction sculpts your body by removing fat deposits from undesirable areas like your midsection and thighs. To do this, the fat deposit is broken up and removed with a small tube called a cannula. We will place the incision in an inconspicuous place, like the belly button or waistband area.
Once fat deposits are removed, they are permanently gone, and your body will not be able to store fat in those areas. This procedure can also be combined with an abdominoplasty. Results for this procedure are immediately noticeable, and most patients are able to return to work after one week of recovery.
